Mr. Grottola is a Member of the Steering Committee for the Vechain Foundation.In 2018 he joined the Scientific Committee of San Marino Innovation, the development agency of San Marino Republic. In 2019, he was selected as a Member of the Blockchain Panel of experts for the Italian Government.
Most recently, he served as Global Director of Growth and Innovation in DNV from January 2021 to October 2022. He originally joined DNV in 1993 as a Marketing Manager for Italy and held several management positions over the years until 1999. After a three-year period as Managing Director and VP of Business Development of Etnoteam, a leading Italian ICT and Consulting company, he re-joined DNV in 2003 as Global Market Director of Business Area Certification.
In 2010 he was appointed as Chief Operating Officer for the Region South Europe and Africa. In 2013, he was appointed as Chief Strategy and M&A Officer at Group level, reporting to Group CEO and President.
Following this assignment, in 2017 he became Global Director M&A and Digital Transformation for DNV GL Business Assurance, focusing on the development of blockchain enabled digital assurance and sustainability solutions. In April 2020 he was appointed as Global Director of the newly established Digital Assurance and Supply Chain Division.
His educational background is a Master of Science with honours in Electronic Engineering from The Polytechnic University of Bari and Executive Management Development Programs of INSEAD, IMD and UC Berkeley.
