Vinay Shandal is the North American Leader of BCG’s Climate and Sustainability Practice. This is the practice through which BCG helps clients turn climate and sustainability pledges into action and seize new opportunities to build competitive advantage. This entails identifying and harnessing climate innovation, embedding sustainability at scale into business, and capturing value. The work is as far-reaching as the challenge.
In addition, Vinay serves on the global leadership team of the Principal Investors and Private Equity. This is the practice through which BCG serves leading asset owners, managers, GPs, hedge funds, family offices and other leading pools of capital on topics of strategy, investment support and value creation.
Vinay has published (BCG, Fortune, HBR, others) and spoken (WEF, COP, TED, IEFA) on the intersection of climate and capital. He is a frequent keynote speaker at industry associations and executive offsites.
Vinay is the co-chair of Centre for Canada’s Future, which tackles the most challenging economic and policy changes facing Canada. He is a board member of Capitalize For Kids, which is the force behind North America’s largest investor conference, the proceeds of which are channeled to solve the toughest challenges in youth brain and mental health.
Before BCG, Vinay practiced law for several years at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions.
Vinay received an LL.B. and B.C.L. from McGill University and an LL.M. from Cambridge University.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family (and family dog) in the great outdoors, teaching his kids to play chess and other procrastination skills, and reading
